Nandita is not only a wonderful and eclectic dancer, but a very special teacher too. In her classes, she uniquely focuses on an essential aspect of dance – the seamless coordination of arms and legs, and, by extension, the beautiful and poetical flow of the movement. Although mentioned in other classes, this detail is rarely given the priority it deserves. Nandita is for ever stressing the necessity of working on both the upper and the lower parts of the body, synchronising them to perfection, or at least, trying to. This makes all the difference between dancing by numbers – the plain execution of a step – and giving some texture to it, making it expressive. In short, I believe that, as a teacher, Nandita is out on a mission – she is committed to finding ways of passing on the exhilarating feeling of dancing from within, with all our passion. That makes her special and truly wonderful.
It is very rare for a great dancer to make a truly great teacher; Nandita is one of those rare finds. Her classes educate you about your body and how to use it to the best of your ability. I know that every time I go to Nandita’s ballet class, I’m going to leave feeling confident, refreshed and well-worked. Her classes welcome dancers and dance enthusiasts of all levels and I highly recommend them to anyone who loves to move.
Since joining Ballet classes with Nandita in October 2020, I have felt really encouraged to continue my journey in learning this beautiful form. I have found Nandita’s teaching style very welcoming, open, natural to the body and wonderfully calming! I feel during class I can completely draw my awareness to being present. The corrections, exercises and guidance delivered by her make a form which looks very complex so accessible and inclusive, especially for someone like me who comes from a training background in Indian Classical Dance. I love the importance which Nandita reminds us of about, listening to our bodies whilst learning the form and understanding we all have unique frames. I really enjoy her classes and feel the benefits weekly- wish I started learning from her earlier!
