Rambert Professional Class

2023

In Spring 2023 I was back for another week of classes and joined by musicians Domenico Angarano, Tommy Khosla and Emmanuela Monni.

Contemporary/Improvisation

Inspired by both eastern and western movement practices, Nandita’s approach empowers connections and pathways within the body to access alignment and functionality to generate a healthy energy flow for embodied moving. Classes will highlight impulse, flow and rhythm invigorated by the energies and dynamics of the natural elements. We will cultivate an intimate relationship with the ground and tune in to our emotional body to colour movements with different qualities. There will be space for improvisation to follow one’s own intuitive and instinctive ways of moving, welcoming the opportunity to find groove, quench creativity and develop autonomy in directing movement. Classes will be accompanied by various live musicians throughout the week, each offering their unique styles to the space.

2022

I was offered a wonderful opportunity to teach a week of Professional Class offered by Rambert Dance Company for the freelance community of dance artists!

In preparation and organising my classes, I felt moved to collaborate and bring in just some of the incredible musicians of colour and female musicians out there to join and inspire our movement, each bringing their unique style and creativity into the space!

The musicians who collaborated with me were Nicholas Hewlett, Archita Kumar, Devaki Thomas, Gnarly Music and Emanuela Monni

The Classes alternated between Contemporary technique and Improvisation during the week.

My approach is inspired by both eastern and western movement practices to empower connections and pathways within the body and find alignment and functionality to generate a healthy energy flow for embodied moving. Classes highlighted impulse, flow and rhythm invigorated by the energies and dynamics of the natural elements Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Space. Improvisation days offered space to follow one’s own intuitive guidance, welcome the opportunity to find our own groove and a chance to quench our creativity and develop autonomy in directing our movement. Classes were accompanied and inspired by various musicians throughout the week!

I learnt a lot throughout the week from every music artist who shared the space with the dancers and I. Each morning, a new vibe and energy was created by us all coming together in trust.

The experience reminded me why I began to dance in the first place – Music!

Thank you dancers and musicians, for your openness and generosity!

Thank you Rambert for having us all in!
